Drawing refinement & modeling/posing/animating out-of-plane

Having dabbled long ago with Igarashi's "Teddy" etc., I was happy to find this modern web app this morning!
I only played with MonsterMash for a bit--(and skimmed the ACM paper)--so apologies if I missed any existing features....

- Firstly, it can be hard to a get some shapes "right" in one, continuous stroke, or to refine a drawing by redrawing the entire profile: Short of boring spline handles, maybe partial redraw/sketch-over could be implemented...? Or line "sculpting" (push/pull effects, like 2d clay with dynamic subD)...?
- Also, I haven't figured out if it's possible to sketch, pose, or animate out of the plane of symmetry, (e.g., flapping wings)...if maybe a view-dependent plane of action could be implemented...? (The animation paths seem to be drawn in a viewport-aligned plane, but the model only moves in the original drawing plane...?)
