Drawing refinement & modeling/posing/animating out-of-plane

Having dabbled long ago with Igarashi's "Teddy" etc., I was happy to find this modern web app this morning!
I only played with MonsterMash for a bit--(and skimmed the ACM paper)--so apologies if I missed any existing features....
  1. Firstly, it can be hard to a get some shapes "right" in one, continuous stroke, or to refine a drawing by redrawing the entire profile: Short of boring spline handles, maybe partial redraw/sketch-over could be implemented...? Or line "sculpting" (push/pull effects, like 2d clay with dynamic subD)...?
  2. Also, I haven't figured out if it's possible to sketch, pose, or animate out of the plane of symmetry, (e.g., flapping wings)...if maybe a view-dependent plane of action could be implemented...? (The animation paths seem to be drawn in a viewport-aligned plane, but the model only moves in the original drawing plane...?)
FWIW! Thanks for sharing this fun app! I hope development continues!

Thanks for trying Monster Mash, kizusu!

That's right, sketching options in the Draw mode are very limited, it would be great to add easier ways to modify existing skeches. I like that push/pull effect that was available in Teddy a lot. For the near future, we plan to add an option to import outline/region images that can be created in an external image editor as an alternative to drawing directly in MM.

Unfortunately, both sketching and animating in MM is restricted to be parallel to the drawing plane. If you draw the animation paths in a view-aligned plane, the motion will still be projected to a plane parallel to the drawing plane. We had a different demo app (not browser based) that allowed deformation in 3D space with some limitations, but this capability is not available in the MonsterMash.zone.
